The use of drones for firefighting is not something new. The drones used in this case are of around $30K, which is a bit expensive.

I am completely sure that designing a specific drone in any University will be for a fraction of this money. The University of Melbourne (Melbourne School of Land and Environment) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics is designing a specialised drone (Octocopter) for grapevine water status and growth monitoring. This same project will incorporate stereoscopic cameras to be used for yield prediction models.
